Keep Your Cool: Blooming Soothe Over Ice

Blooming Soothe may be made for slower moments, but it doesn’t always need to arrive steaming.

Brew it strong, pour it over plenty of ice and its fresh minty character becomes even cooler, cleaner and more refreshing. It’s a brilliant after-dinner serve, a lovely hot-weather alternative and ready in minutes.

Same soothing mint. A whole new chill.

How to make it

  1. Add Blooming Soothe to 150ml of freshly boiled water and brew for the time recommended on the pack.

  2. Strain the leaves. If you’d like a sweeter drink, stir in a little honey or sugar while the tea is still hot.

  3. Fill a sturdy, heatproof glass generously with ice.

  4. Pour the freshly brewed tea slowly over the ice and stir until beautifully chilled.

  5. Top up with more ice if needed.

  6. Finish with fresh mint leaves or a mint sprig, then find somewhere comfortable and keep your cool.

Why brew it stronger?

Ice melts - and nobody wants their refreshing iced tea to become minty water halfway through the glass.

Using twice the usual amount of Blooming Soothe in less water creates a concentrated brew that keeps plenty of flavour as the ice chills and dilutes it.

Use more tea rather than leaving it to brew far beyond the recommended time. That gives you a fuller flavour without pulling out anything overly strong or bitter.

Add fresh mint

Blooming Soothe already brings plenty of mint flavour, so fresh mint is entirely optional. Its real job here is to add a burst of fresh aroma and make the finished glass look rather lovely.

Gently clap a mint sprig between your hands before adding it. This helps release the fragrant oils without crushing the leaves into soggy green confetti.

Sweeten - or don’t

Try the iced tea before adding anything else. Blooming Soothe is fresh and naturally easy to drink, so you may prefer it completely unsweetened.

For a softer finish, add half a teaspoon of honey or sugar while the tea is still warm. If the drink is already cold, use a liquid sweetener or simple syrup, which will mix in much more easily.

Start small, stir and taste. The sweetness should round off the mint, not bury it.

Make it your moment

Serve it after dinner when you want something fresh, pour yourself a glass on a warm afternoon or keep it nearby for slow, easy sipping.

No milk, no elaborate equipment and no waiting overnight. Just Blooming Soothe, plenty of ice and an optional flourish of fresh mint.

Cool, minty and gloriously unfussy.
